Make your own field guide
Beta. The field guide generator is still being ironed out. Recent taxonomic splits (for example gibbons and squirrels) and inaccurate GBIF records are adding species to some guides that do not really occur at the places chosen. We are working on methods to filter these out. Please treat the species lists as a guide, not a definitive checklist.
Tell us where you're going and what you want to see. We'll make a pocket guide (A5 PDF) with photos, ID notes, the places you're visiting and a checklist at the back.
1Where are you going?
Pick a whole country, state or island, or up to 6 parks and reserves. Choose a country for suggestions, or search for any place.
2What do you want to see?
Only the groups you pick go in the guide.
3How big a guide?
This sets how many species get their own page with a photo and description: the most-recorded ones, shown in taxonomic order. Species we have no photo for are left out of the pages but stay on the checklist.
4Make it yours
In the print window, choose Save as PDF. Paper size A5 is set for you; turn on Background graphics if your browser asks. The e-book works in Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo and Kindle (send it with Send to Kindle).
